A former Critical Care Paramedic with the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Service won’t ever forget his new born son’s birthday – Matthew Clark was born on 9th September 2009 - 09/09/09.

31 year old Gordon Clark, who is from Redhill in Surrey, has recently transferred back to the land crew at the South East Coast Ambulance Service, after two and a half years working on the Air Ambulance across the region.

Gordon Clark said “My wife Julie and our baby boy Matthew are both healthy – we’re all doing great, just trying to get some sleep now”.

Little Matthew weighed 6lb 5oz and was born by caesarean section at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill. Matthew is the couple’s third child – after Lucy who is aged three and two year old James.

Gordon added “The feeling of becoming a father is an anxious one, I had the same nerves, same excitement and anticipation that I had with the others but my work as a paramedic prepared me for the ups and downs of pregnancy and childbirth but I was still anxious.

The couple won’t have any excuses for forgetting their son’s date of birth – Gordon said “It’s a very fitting date for our son to be born on. I didn’t realise at first, it was only when I came to take my paternity leave that my wife said ‘it’s 999’ - It’s going to be a very easy birthday to remember.”
