Over the next two weeks someone in Surrey could win up to £25,000 in the Air Ambulance Superdraw.

 

The 'Superdraw' was launched in October 2007 when the gambling commission relaxed its rules on the top prizes for charity lotteries. That prize has now grown, and within the next three weeks, will reach its maximum level of £25,000.

 

There have been two winners since the Air Ambulance Superdraw began - the last winner was 60 year old Larraine Brookes from Chatham. The cash prize enabled Larraine to pay off her mortgage and to go on a holiday of a lifetime to Hawaii.

 

Larraine Brookes said: "I couldn't believe my ears when I received the call to say that I had won, I even had to listen to the call again, to make sure! Life's great now - I've cleared my mortgage, I had a few bob left over for a holiday. Hawaii was beautiful, I went whale watching, saw turtles and even climbed a mountain. Winning the Superdraw is the best thing that ever happened to me. I actively encourage my friends to support the lottery and the Air Ambulance."

 

Larraine visited the Air Ambulance base to receive her winning cheque from the crew of the life saving helicopter.

 

Lynne Mitchell, Lottery Manager said:  "One of the most pleasurable parts of my job is ringing our lottery winners, but to give them the news that they've won £25,000 is phenomenal. That feeling is incredible, so I can only imagine what it must be like to actually win it."
